Bread & Pickles
about our company
In 2009, Bread & Pickles Deli was established in Meeniyan, Victoria by N. Pratt to supply the local community with fresh produce after the Meeniyan supermarket burned down. When the new supermarket opened, Bread & Pickles Deli diversified into a gourmet takeaway and catering business.
In late 2015, the shop was sold to our owner, Lauren Jacovou, who brought 20 years of professional hospitality knowledge with her. Before buying Bread & Pickles, Lauren owned and ran The Lal Lal Kitchen
Lauren has always been focused on helping others which is why she donates retail space to Tumaini for Africa Gallery and Accommodation Suite
Bread& Pickles is set in the main street of Meeniyan, a progressive country town that hosts the Meeniyan Garlic Festival. It boasts a variety of eating establishments, the Meeniyan Art Gallery, Lacy Jewellery Studio and the Lyrebird Arts Council that brings some of the finest musicians to the Meeniyan Mechanics Hall.
Meet Our Owner
Lauren bought Bread & Pickles to fulfil her dream of having her own business and creating delicious food that brings joy and comfort. She works tirelessly to create a welcoming environment where people can laugh and enjoy handmade food and the company of others.
She is thrilled to be raising her daughter in Meeniyan as it holds a special place in her heart. Lauren lived there as a teenager and fondly remembers the friendly, welcoming and encouraging locals that supported her love of music. The locals gave her the opportunities of singing at the famed Tavern Nights, the Meeniyan Hotel and what is now Moo’s at Meeniyan Café/Restaurant.
Lauren also began her cooking career at the Meeniyan Hotel when she was 15. She was delighted when approached to provide them with a number of desserts for their menu.
Lauren also performs in a musical trio called Limerence and performs regularly.
